Duplicate File Cleaner - Find and Delete Your Duplicates App Reviews

Fantastic interface both for searching and sorting. Only problem was running out RAM when I tried running it on too large of a folder (my home folder, 120gb or so). I was surprised because my Mac is pretty new (rMBP, 8gb RAM, only about a year old). Even got system critical warnings. No lasting problems at all though, to be clear—just force quitting and restarting my computer convinced it that it wasn’t dying anymore. Overall, though, highly recommend the app! Especially for use on smaller folders, where it’s speedy and nice to use.

So Ive been on the search for a dupe remover for awhile now, havent had any luck until now—with Duplicate File Remover. I do a lot of audio work, producing, etc. Anyone in this field knows that the programs they use will create duplicates of the original file or track, sometimes create a hidden duplicate. Just from audio files alone, I was able to clean up about 22gigs. I highly recommend this app.

I’m not a techie or a geek so don’t even know what many of the terms or acronyms or abbreviations mean in the descriptions of these apps. I did my best and took a shot with this one. Am I ever glad I did!!! It’s amazing—so intuitive even I could figure it out—and in less than five mins I freed up nearly 4 gigabytes of space from my Photo app alone. I highly recommend this app, especially for anyone who appreciates speed, power, simplicity, efficiency, in an app they don’t need a college course to understand.

It does what it says it can do, and it does it pretty easily and quickly. I am impressed.

My data has been moved from computer to computer several times. And, on occasion, I’ll re-download something that I already have but can’t remember where. (Thank goodness for tagging!) This little app was able to find all the duplicates on my hard drive in less than a minute. My one quibble with the program is that there isn’t really a good way to de-select an item in the list, once you’ve clicked on one. I look forward to new versions of this little utility!

Purchased today to use with my iphoto library and it freezes every time I try analyzing the folder for duplicates. I waited for over two hours and the entire computer froze and I had to do hard reset. Tried everything again and same result. Very dissappointed. Don’t waste your money

I never buy apps. Tonight was the first night I bought apps simply because my computer has been running slow. I looked through several products and came across this one with excellent ratings. I decided to purchase it and it only gives me a "Duplicate File Cleaner quit unexpectedly." page to tell me it wont even open on my Mac. I have contacted the company through Facebook, however all the other reviews are asking for help from the company too without any response. What a waste of time and money. Please do not purchase this.

Just downloaded the app and it does not open! how do I get my money back??

This app is a must have for youtubers because i always have duplicates of pictures and videos for some reason

This is an excellent software for cleaning up the redundants files eating away your harddisk space.

Reports NO duplicates - EVEN after I purposely create duplicates - with same name, etc. - within the same volume [

I tried it on a small folder and it worked nice but found a lot of dups of small files - not worth the effort of picking which to delete. I raised the threshold in preferences to ~300k and ran on my documents folder. It worked for 5 or 10 minutes finding 10 dups, 760 files checked, then just sat there not changing for another 20 minutes or so frozen. So was my Mac. Couldn’t Cmd-Alt-Esc, couldn’t click on anything, any app, any window, nothing. Finally had to turn my mac off and boot up again. Deleting this app. Waste of money.

Duplicate File Cleaner works as advertised. Simple, intuitive, effective. It identified 10,139 duplicates freeing up 26.56 GB in very short time. I couldnt ask for more.

I have an older 2009 iMac and it works perfectly. Best app I’ve used to find duplicates. Well worth the money.

I got this piece of faulty software because I had quite many duplicate pictures on my Photos gallery. The good part, it seems it got rid of those duplicates. The bad part? It did it corrupting my actualy gallery; I can no longer export pictures directly from Photos. Now, I have to open the Photos package, copy the picture I need, and finally, crop it or resize it manually.

Started to use this app about 10 mins ago…so far so good!

It is really difficult to buy an app that has a 4 1/2 star rating, and then read the most recent reviews and find many of them negative. Why can’t we return apps for a refund? I’m afraid to use this now since I read a review that said it corrupted files on the reviewers computer! I can’t afford that, I use my computer for business! That’s scary stuff, I’m afraid to open it, and I can’t get my money back!
